Bill Nighy is a BAFTA and Golden Globe winning English actor who became famous internationally after starring in the 2003 film, Love Actually. Nighy has since appeared in – among others – Notes On a Scandal, Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Sylvia Patterson of The Big Issue UK met the elusive actor who refuses to confront his past and is happier discussing football than stardom. Nighy is also a staunch advocate of the Robin Hood Tax, a proposed tax on transactions carried out by banks and hedge funds.

Bill Nighy wurde 2003 international durch seine Rolle in “Tatsächlich … Liebe“ bekannt. Er hat bereits den britischen Medienpreis BAFTA und einen Golden Globe gewonnen. Seitdem war er unter anderem in „Tagebuch eines Skandals“, „Fluch der Karibik“ und „Harry Potter und die Heiligtümer des Todes“ zu sehen.

Sylvia Patterson vom Big Issue UK hat den öffentlichkeitsscheuen Schauspieler getroffen, der sich nicht gern mit seiner Vergangenheit auseinandersetzt und generell lieber über Fußball als seinen Ruhm spricht. Dazu ist Nighy überzeugter Fürsprecher der sogenannten „Robin Hood-Steuer“, einer Steuer auf Transaktionen von Banken und Hedgefonds.
